Blythe California
The City of Outdoor Recreations

Blythe is a city in Riverside County, California and it is located on the
California-Arizona border where I-10 crosses the Colorado River. The area serves
as a
popular place for river recreation and "snow bird" living for everyone.
Since Blythe is approximately midway between Los Angeles CA and Phoenix AZ, it
is a favorite stopover city with full services for travelers. The people are
very warm and friendly.

Blythe has over 22,000 current residents. Their population more than triples
during the winter months with the arrival of cold climate state visitors
seeking relief from their winter season.
In the summer, in spite of extreme high Sonoran Desert temperatures,
Blythe is a center for water sports along the Colorado River. There is almost
95 miles of navigable water to use for your enjoyment between Blythe and
Imperial Dam in Yuma.
The Colorado River and its backwaters are home to a variety of fish, including
crappies, bluegill, perch, striped bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass,
tilapia, carp and several species of catfish.
Whether you enjoy fishing, hunting, hiking, off-road vehicle sports,
rockhounding and prospecting, these are just a few of the
recreational activities that you will find around Blythe all year long.

Blythe has the classic low desert climate with low relative humidity and high
summer temperatures with sunshine 360 days a year. Less than 4 inches of
precipitation a year is an average.
Most Blythe businesses run their air conditioning for much of the year.
Average summer temperatures range from 85 to 110. Average winter temperatures
range from 55 to 75 degrees. Air pollution in the area is almost non existent.
A 50 mile visibility range is common most days.
